    7th Grand Rapids Latin American Film Festival

    It’s the 7th annual Grand Rapids Latin American Film Festival. The festival is scheduled to show nine award-winning films from Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Uruguay. Don’t worry, all films have English subtitles.

    Butterflies are Blooming

    The annual Butterflies are Blooming exhibit opened on March 1st and runs through April 30th. As you walk through the Tropical Conservatory you may see up to 50 different species of tropical butterflies from around the world. You might even have one or two land on you!     Whales: Giants of the Deep

    This exhibit will only be at the Grand Rapids Public Museum through April 15th. The Whales: Giants of the Deep experience will bring kids and adults eye to eye with these animals. The exhibition gives visitors a combination of science, storytelling, and innovative interactivity so they can learn more about the world of whales.

    Space: A Journey to Our Future

    In one of the largest touring space exhibits ever developed, you will experience the past, present and future of space exploration. Take a ride a lunar module simulator and visit a simulated scientific base camp on Mars. The exhibit is geared to young people ages 9-17, but still fun for all ages.

    The John Ball Zoo officially opened for the 2017 season on Saturday, March 11th. The weather looks like it will be sunny and in the 50's...a great weekend to be outside and strolling through the zoo. According to the Zoo’s official website: “Spring is great time to visit the Zoo.” said Peter D’Arienzo, Chief Executive Officer. “The animals really do miss the visitors over the winter so when the families return this time of year, the animals are very curious and active."
