    ArtPrize does not officially begin until Wednesday, September 20th at Noon, but you can venture out to beat the crowds to see some of this year's over 1,300 ArtPrize entries this weekend. The Grand Rapids Art Museum and Gerald R. Ford Museum are open to the public to view ArtPrize entries at their venues, but keep in mind that normal admission fees apply at both venues. The Fed Galleries at Kendall College of Art and Design are also open. Many outdoor installations are also set up or in the process of being set up. ArtPrize runs through October 8th.

    Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. When you participate in Walk, your fundraising dollars fuel their mission, and your participation in the event helps to change the level of Alzheimer’s awareness in your community. While there is no fee to register, they encourage participants to raise funds in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness.

    This new exhibit at the Grand Rapids Public Museum opens up this weekend! Brain: The World Inside Your Head literally takes you inside the head to probe the geography of a giant brain.  Stand in the midst of the brain’s constant electrical brainstorm as thoughts and sensations are generated. The experience-based exhibit employs innovative special effects, 3-D reproductions, virtual reality, hands-on learning activities and interactive technology to delve into the inner workings of the brain.
