If you were hoping your drive to mom and dads for Thanksgiving would be smoother this year, well, let’s just say that’s wishful thinking. According to AAA Travel, 46.9-million Americans plan on traveling at least 50 miles from home over Thanksgiving this year (defined as travel between Wednesday, November 25th to Sunday, November 29th), which is up from 46.6-million last year, and is the highest number since 2007. That number amounts to an additional 300,000 people on the road, and marks the seventh straight year of Thanksgiving travel growth.

Overall, driving is still the most popular way people will be getting to their destinations this year, with nearly 42-million Americans expected to take some type of road trip this Thanksgiving, which is up 0.7%. Meanwhile, 3.6-million people will likely fly to their destination, an increase of .1%. Other modes of holiday travel include cruising, trains and busses, which will in total encompass about 1.4-million travelers, a decrease of 1.4%.

Of course car travel could be up because gas prices are so cheap this year. In fact, this is the lowest Thanksgiving gas prices we’ve seen in seven years. Last year gas prices were around $2.80, this year it’s more like $2.15

Her'es some driving tips from a weird truck driver, like keeping your hands at six. That's all just six. And don't swerve when the joy comes. Which reminds me, this isn't safe to have turned up loud at work. NSFW.
