Dodgeball has come a long way since elementary school.

On August 4, dodgeball enthusiasts will compete for their chance at some big money in Kentwood.

The 2013 Ultimate Dodgeball Championship is awarding $50,000 in prizes.  $20,000 to the winning team.

Sunday's tournament in Kentwood is one of many national qualifying tournaments. The championship tournament will be held in Las Vegas and broadcast nationally on Fox Sports Network.

This isn't the dodgeball you remember from elementary school.  It's better. It's dodgeball + trampolines.

Teams play 5 on 5 with rosters of up to 8 players.  Games are played on a court made of trampolines.

It's hard to explain.  Check out the video below.

Sunday's tournament is at Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park in Kentwood.  Review the rules and sign up your team here.

Meanwhile, get in some practice.  And remember, "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball".
