Not in Michigan though. Don't think we will ever see 85 mph on 131 or 96 anytime soon. Legally I mean...;) State officials in Texas are looking to make a stretch of highway between San Antonio and Austin the second fastest road in the world, behind some places in Poland. The toll road would have a legal speed limit of 85. Some roads in Texas already are posted at 80.

Safety of course is the biggest issue. The toll road in Texas is mostly straight, and is being built for such speeds. Plus it's a very congested area with the population boom going on in Texas now. The full story from Yahoo is here: "Texas highway would be the first to allow 85 mph speed limit"

Would going 85 on ANY highway in Michigan be a good idea now? Especially with the recent motorcycle helmet law. Tell us what you think on Facebook, or right down here!
