Wee Difference for October: Safe Haven Ministries

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

With that in mind, 98.7 WFGR has named Safe Haven Ministries, of Grand Rapids, as its Wee Difference charity for the month of October.

Since 1990, Safe Haven has been helping women and children find freedom from domestic violence.

Wee Difference For September: myTeam Triumph

The organization making a Wee Difference in our community for the month of September is myTeam Triumph.

The West Michigan branch of myTeam Triumph is a unique organization which enables those who are disabled to experience the thrills and excitement of being in the middle of a race. By putting someone else's triumph ahead of their own, they bring new life experience to those who may not have the opportunity.

July’s Wee Difference: The Guiding Light Mission

This month our charity that makes a Wee Difference in our community is The Guiding Light Mission.

The Guiding Light Mission has a history of helping the less fortunate in Grand Rapids that dates back to 1929. Providing food and shelter to all, and resources to men that support their social, physical, spiritual, and intellectual needs.

And on Wednesday and July 23, Guiding Light is opening its doors to provide a behind-the-scenes look at what the mission is doing to put men back on their feet and to work in Grand Rapids.

Last September, as part of our Wee Difference campaign, we met a young man named Keegan Bulk from Fremont.  

His efforts to get toys for hospitalized children has earned him the title of HearthSong Hero.

The Children's Dyslexia Center is a two-prong non-profit organization, helping children with dyslexia and training tutors to help those children.
