A West Michigan Town is Going to Attempt to Break a World Record this Weekend

Ludington is kicking off their celebration of summer with 'Love Ludington' weekend and one of the biggest events of the weekend is a world record attempt.

The city of Ludington is hoping to take the #1 spot for the most simultaneous sand angels. While fun, it's also to raise money for cancer patients at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. The event page states that

All funds raised through this initiative benefit cancer patients with medical and transportation costs not covered by insurance."

"Be Someone's Angel" will take place on Saturday, 6/10 at Stearns Park at 1 p.m. It is FREE to attend but donations will be accepted and appreciated.

MLive says that the current record-holder for the most sand angels at once is in the U.K. where 352 people participated in 2015. It should be easy to break as 5,000 people are expected to participate in Ludington. An official judge from Guinness Book will be on site.

Last summer, the city broke the record for "Longest Ice Cream Dessert" but sadly that was taken away shortly thereafter by the Nashville Business District in Nashville, MI.
