At this stage of the game, Tom Petty is the first to admit that he “never thought” he’d be as busy as he is right now, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact, in a new interview with Rolling Stone, Petty says he expects his band to be around beyond the foreseeable future.

Now 63-years old, Petty tells the music magazine that he "can't see giving it up" anytime soon.   He explains, "This band just grows and grows" which is "an incredible gift."  As proof, consider that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are wrapping up work in their next album.

Dubbed "Hypnotic Eye," Petty describes the project as the group's first "straight hard-rockin' record in a long time" and says that guitarist Mike Campbell believes the material is reminiscent of the group's first two albums.  "Hypnotic Eye," the group's first studio effort since 2010's "Mojo," is expected this summer.  Even better? Petty notes that fans can look forward to a tour.
