‘American Horror Story: Cult’ To Be Set In Michigan, But Where? [Video]

Producer Ryan Murphy‘s hit FX series ‘American Horror Story’ will set its seventh season in Michigan. It will deal with a cult that has formed here following the 2016 election.

Oh, the joys of being a swing state.

In a one word Tweet response to a simple question as to where the series would be set, Murphy confirmed that season seven would be set here in Michigan.

The series won’t be doing any filming here, but Murphy indicated on a recent episode of Bravo’s ‘Watch What Happens Live’ that the season would deal with the 2016 Presidential election although he later indicated there would be no Presidential character.

According to the trailers, clowns will also will play a part in this season’s shenanigans, although it is unclear how.

‘American Horror Story’ is unique in that the show usually keeps many of the same cast members from season to season like Sarah Paulson, while changing the storyline and era, meaning the cast is playing different characters each year.

New actors added for season seven include Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr, fresh off his critically acclaimed role as O.J. Simpson in ‘The People Vs. O.J. Simpson’.

Also added to the cast this season are IFC’s Billy Eichner, known for his quiz show where he screams questions at people on the street, and HBO’s Lena Dunham.

The Detroit Free Press put forth the following theories as to why AHS will be set here, but I’m more interested as to WHERE in Michigan this would take place.

Let’s face it, Detroit is a whole different kind of scary than an abandoned farm house in Borculo, so let’s think of some scary places in Michigan where this could be filmed.

Sunday Shopping at the Knapp Street Meijer: What could be scarier than trying to find a parking place, followed by standing in a long line to cash in all those beer cans from the previous night, only to find that the Saturday crowds bought all the best flavors of Halo Top ice cream!!!

Last Call At Stella’s: Tell me that when you’re finally drunk enough to be in the process of putting up your best ever score on Ms. Pac Man, only to be told you have to leave NOW isn’t scary.

Southbound 131 on Labor Day: So you really think you’re going to have someone let you in when you’re trying to turn left onto the non-freeway part of 131 near Cadillac? Think again. You may be here til Tuesday!!!

Trying To Get A Beer At Any Bar Near Ford Field Before A Lions Game: “I think I made eye contact with the bartender! Nope, she was just refilling the ice, damn!”

Driving On The M6 Before They Fixed The Concrete: AHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
