Classic Hits 98.7 WFGR's Wee Difference maker for April is Family Hope Foundation.

Family Hope Foundation is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that serves individuals with special needs and their families in West Michigan.

Lara Kitts, the Jenison-based foundation's chairperson, says:

We strive to fill gaps in the system and not duplicate services. We believe in collaborating with other community organizations and working together to build a stronger special needs community. Family Hope Foundation supports individuals with any type of disability or special need. Our premise is simple: each child deserves the chance to reach their highest potential. Children with special needs can grow, change, learn, connect and be happy members of their family. They can succeed if the community nurtures their abilities and creates an atmosphere for success.

Family Hope Foundation provides scholarships for therapy, low-cost family-fun events and information and resources for families of individuals with special needs.

Two prime events for Family Hope Foundation are its 5K Glow in the Park Run on July 26 at Millennium Park in Grand Rapids and Special Families Fun Fest carnival Nov. 8 at The DeltaPlex Arena & Conference Center in Grand Rapids.

Volunteers for those events or other activities by the non-profit can contact Family Hope online or by calling (616) 780-3839. Information on individuals or organizations seeking to donate financially is available online.
