People were played songs to see how quick it took them to name the song. Here are the ten songs they could identify the quickest, making them the catchiest songs of all time.

Well like it or not, earworms (as they're called) are here to stay and the worst offender in UK history is "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls.

Researchers quizzed over 12,000 participants to see how quickly they could recognize various pop songs, and while the average song took people 5 seconds, the Spice Girls hit only took an average of 2.3 seconds.

Other ditties that came close to "Wannabe" were Lou Bega’s “Mambo No 5” in second and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” at number there.
