As Rosie’s Diner Hits Auction, More Pre Fab Food Outlets Might Be Hitting City

I told you Tuesday that Rosie's Diner in Rockford was hitting the auction block. As of 4 o'clock, the bidding was up to $125,500.00. That's pretty good! But it might not be the last we see of diners in the greater Grand Rapids area.

A good story in the Press yesterday talked about an outfit calling itself "Urban Renaissance Group" and their plan to open pre fab diners out of old shipping containers in urban areas. The first one could go up later this summer in an abandoned lot across from Sandman's BBQ on Wealthy. I think it's a cool idea and a great use for these old shipping units!
