Jack Black in Talks to Join Dwayne Johnson in ‘Jumanji’ Reboot
It might be getting a little more difficult for Jumanji loyalists to remain skeptical of the reboot. As if the casting of Dwayne Johnson weren’t enough for you, today brings word that Jack Black is in talks to join the cast, while it appears that Johnson’s Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart has officially signed on. If you aren’t even remotely enticed by the prospect of watching those three get into shenanigans with an assortment of various jungle animals, then I don’t know what could possibly make you feel joy.
SNL Revives Dana Carvey’s Church Lady to Judge Our Choices Accordingly
It’s been several years since Dana Carvey’s Church Lady graced us with her benevolent presence, but Church Chat finally returns to SNL — and not a moment too soon. With Donald Trump running for president (what a world) and pop culture run amok, we, as a nation, are truly in need of sage wisdom from Carvey’s shrewdly devout Church Lady.
Chris Miller Teases Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff With New Image
We still don’t know exactly who will be filling Harrison Ford’s iconic shoes in the role of young Han Solo, and it may still be a while before Lucasfilm makes the casting official. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently in pre-production on the untitled spinoff, and to celebrate Star Wars day, Miller has shared an image teasing a very familiar-looking sidekick.
Read Ryan Reynolds’ Moving Tribute to Teen ‘Deadpool’ Fan Who Lost Cancer Battle
It’s a touching, familiar scenario: a young person coping with a grave illness has their wish granted and gets to meet the actors who play their favorite comic book heroes on the big screen. Sometimes, they get to see a new movie before anyone else, and while our hearts are warmed by the photos and stories about it, we tend to forget why they were treated to a special private screening of The Force Awakens or, in this case, Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds has written an incredibly moving tribute to the memory of his friend, 13-year-old Connor McGrath, a Deadpool fan who has sadly lost his battle with cancer.
‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Director Rian Johnson Shares New Photos From the Set
Okay, before you get too excited, you should know that while these are most definitely new photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode 8, they don’t reveal anything mind-blowing. They’re just a couple of great photos shared by Rian Johnson, featuring a familiar piece of aircraft, a console and a mysterious First Order operative. The director released the photos to celebrate the halfway point in production, which means we’re that much closer to learning more about the upcoming sequel.
New ‘Ghostbusters’ Details Shed Some Light on the Shady Villain, Possible Multiverse Plans
The first trailer for Ghostbusters offered a sizable preview of Paul Feig’s upcoming reboot, giving us a peek of the team’s proton packs in action, the new ghosts and that goofy receptionist who kind of looks like Thor. But we still haven’t seen the film’s elusive villain, played by Neil Casey — and we still don’t know much about the guy at all, really. Thankfully, recent comments from director Paul Feig and screenwriter Katie Dippold help shed some light on the reboot’s big bad, giving us a better idea of what the ladies will be up against.
Robert Downey Jr. Is Down For ‘Iron Man 4,’ So Just Forget All That Other Stuff He Said
For the last couple of years, Robert Downey Jr. has said that there are no plans for a fourth Iron Man movie — and he hasn’t appeared to be interested in making another one, to be honest. And that fact is seemingly supported by his Marvel contract, which does not include another solo outing beyond Iron Man 3. When (and if) Marvel re-ups the actor’s contract, that could very well be subject to change, when (and if) Downey Jr. is open to it. That time appears to be now.
Marvel Will Call the Creative Shots on ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
The idea of seeing Spider-Man in the MCU used to seem totally crazy, but here we are. Tom Holland’s web-slinger is set to make his debut in Captain America: Civil War in just a couple of weeks, and early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive about the new Spidey. But that’s Civil War. Sony’s last two Spider-Man movies were kind of a mess, to say the least, so a little skepticism regarding their upcoming reboot is understandable. Rest assured that Spidey is in good hands, according to Kevin Feige.
‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ Gets a New Writer, Is Still Happening Just Like Robert Downey Jr. Promised
Last week, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that Sherlock Holmes 3 will begin filming this year, with Guy Ritchie returning to direct the long-developing sequel. Lo and behold today’s update that a new screenwriter has been tapped to rewrite the script — because when Robert Downey Jr. says something is happening, he enters into a binding verbal contract with the universe and essentially wills his thoughts into existence.
Disney Sets Dates For Live-Action ‘The Jungle Book 2,’ ‘Maleficent 2,’ ‘Dumbo’ and More

The studio now has a total of seven release dates set for various live-action projects, and though they have yet to formally attach specific titles to these dates, reports suggest that at least one of the new dates belongs to The Jungle Book sequel.

The ‘Ghostbusters’ Are Having a Blast in New Character Banners
It’s been a little quiet on the Ghostbusters front in the last few weeks, but Sony has unveiled some colorful new banners featuring three of the characters from Paul Feig’s upcoming film. Melissa McCarthy is strangely absent, but Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Kristen Wiig each get their very own promo image, blasting away with their cool new proton packs.
