‘Russ and Roger Go Beyond’ Eyes ‘Once’ Director John Carney
John Carney’s Sing Street was a hit at Sundance, but when we spoke with the director he told us that it might be his last musical for a while. It looks like Carney may have found his first non-musical gig with Russ and Roger Go Beyond, the long-developing project that will explore the friendship between iconic film critic Roger Ebert and cult director Russ Meyer, who collaborated on Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.
Captain America and Iron Man Get Their Own ‘Civil War’ Recruitment Posters
Team Cap or Team Iron Man is the biggest question of the year (you know, aside from the presidential election, which is sort of a big deal). Forget Batman and Superman and the X-Men and Apocalypse — Captain America: Civil War is going to really shake things up. In keeping with the film's government (and anti-government) theme, Marvel has released two new poster images inviting you to — no surprise here — choose a side.
Daisy Ridley Confrms ‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Picks Up Where ‘The Force Awakens’ Left Off
Lucasfilm released an announcement video a couple of weeks ago to kick off production on Star Wars: Episode VIII, showing just a tiny glimpse of footage that made it look as if Rian Johnson was picking up where J.J. Abrams left off. If you had any doubts that Episode VIII would begin where The Force Awakens ends, Daisy Ridley has confirmed that this is definitely the case — and that Luke Skywalker will have much more to do this time around.
‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Sweep the 2016 Razzie Awards
Ah, the Razzies. Looking at the list of nominees for the annual "worst film awards" increasingly makes it seem as though the people behind the Razzies don't actually watch the worst films of the year, and while Fifty Shades of Grey was hardly 2015’s worst cinematic byproduct, the film managed to sweep the Razzies with five "awards." Fantastic Four was right behind it with three awards, with both films tying for Worst Picture of 2015. At least they got it half-right.
‘Ghostbusters’ Star Michael K. Williams Confirms Slimer’s Return
There have been rumors since last fall that one particularly slimy character from the original Ghostbusters film would be returning for Paul Feig’s new film, seemingly confirmed by an IMDb credit. But then Feig went and did what J.J. Abrams tried to do with that whole Khan / Star Trek Into Darkness thing — he flat-out denied it, even though this was a pretty viable rumor about a character we all sort of expected would appear. Guess what? The rumor was true, and Ghostbusters star Michael K. Williams has confirmed it himself.
‘Captain America: Civil War’ Also Features the Return of Pepper Potts
Plenty of fans have been jokingly referring to Captain America: Civil War as Avengers 2.5, since it boasts almost the entire Avengers lineup, introduces Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, and includes villains and supporting characters both old and new. It’s…a lot. And it looks like there’s at least one more character to add to Marvel’s super-pile, as Gwyneth Paltrow has been confirmed to return as Iron Man pal Pepper Potts.
‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Production Codename Revealed
Not too long ago, there was a rumor going around that Rian Johnson had a secret production codename for Star Wars: Episode VIII — a totally believable rumor, given that most major films shoot under secret titles and the practice is fairly common. Episode VIII’s codename is secret no more, as Carrie Fisher (and her insanely adorable dog, Gary Fisher) has revealed the sequel’s production title, and, like most codenames, it’s one you never would have guessed.
‘Ghostbusters’ Ecto Cooler Return Confirmed With New Cans and Packaging
A few months ago Coca-Cola re-registered the trademark for Hi-C’s Ecto Cooler, the Ghostbusters-inspired drink that frequently hung out in your childhood lunchbox. With a new Ghostbusters movie on the way, that could mean only one thing: The return of Ecto Cooler. And while Coca-Cola has yet to make an official announcement, some new packaging has popped up online that suggests that Ecto Cooler’s return is no longer a rumor.
‘Pete’s Dragon’ Posters Tease a Bashful Dragon in Disney’s Remake
The first official teaser for Disney's remake of Pete's Dragon arrives on Sunday evening, but you can catch a glimpse of the friendly new dragon with a new poster and motion poster for the upcoming film. You can't see the big green guy's face, but these posters do give us a sense of where Disney and director David Lowery are heading with their reimagining of the 1977 fantasy classic.

SNL Ranked: Melissa McCarthy Delivers a Hilariously Quirky Episode
Melissa McCarthy returned to Studio 8H for her fourth outing as SNL host, and while it may have made more sense for her to host closer to the April release date of her new comedy The Boss, it's difficult to complain. McCarthy teams up with her Ghostbusters co-stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones for a mostly great episode that really leans into the weird stuff and makes excellent use of musical guest Kanye West in an early contender for best sketch of the year. Read on for our ranking of this week's sketches from best to worst.
