It brings us great sadness to report this news on the first day of the New Year -- James Avery, the beloved actor who portrayed Uncle Phil on the hit '90s sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' has passed away at the age of 68. Avery, who passed away late last night in Los Angeles, was an actor known for his warmth, and continued to appear on many TV shows over the years after 'Fresh Prince' concluded.
Released in 1988, "Scrooged" was a darkly comedic take on Charles Dickens' classic 'A Christmas Carol,' starring Bill Murray in the Ebenezer Scrooge role as Frank Cross, a cynical TV executive alienated from his family and unable to find real happiness.
Struggling to put together a live production of "A Christmas Carol" on Christmas Eve, Frank finds that his real life begins to resemble the story he's producing as three ghosts visit him throughout the evening to try and get him to change his ways before it's too late.
The film took Murray from battling ghosts in 'Ghostbusters' to learning lessons from them, and over time it's become a holiday comedy classic.
Twenty five years later, take a look back at the cast of the film and see where they are now.
Sad news today, as legendary film and stage actor Peter O'Toole has passed away in London at the age of 81. The Irish actor, who just announced his retirement last year, was known for his work in films like 'Lawrence of Arabia,' 'The Lion in Winter,' 'Goodbye Mr. Chips,' and the 2006 film 'Venus,' for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
It is with heavy hearts that we bring you this tragic news at the end of the holiday weekend -- 'Fast and Furious' star Paul Walker has passed away at the age of 40. Walker, who was working on 'Fast and Furious 7' with Vin Diesel and director James Wan, was killed in a car explosion in California on Saturday afternoon.
While you're sitting around the Thanksgiving dinner table with your family next week, we're not sure whether or not you'll want to thank MGM for this bit of news: the studio is remaking 'Road House,' the 80s classic starring Patrick Swayze and Kelly Lynch, with director Rob Cohen -- a name you'll recognize as the director of the first 'Fast and Furious' movie, as well as the Vin Diesel action vehicle 'xXx.' It could be worse?
Seems there is no moratorium on sequels as, just in time for the holidays, comes news that the Jimmy Stewart classic 'It's a Wonderful Life' is getting a sequel. Nope, not a remake, but a sequel, since apparently we didn't get the full story the first time around. The new film, titled 'It's a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story' (original!) will follow the grandson of Stewart's character.
In possibly the most heartwarming news of the year, the Make-a-Wish foundation has granted the wish of five year-old Batman super fan Miles, who will get to dress as his favorite crime-fighting superhero and defeat some of the caped crusader's famous villains. The foundation is turning San Francisco into the streets of Gotham for a day just so little Miles can make his dreams come true!
'Revenge of the Nerds' is easily one of the greatest comedies of all time. Released in 1984, the film follows a group of nerdy friends as they navigate the treacherous social waters of college. It's been almost 30 years since this classic film hit theaters, so let's take a look back at the cast of the film and see what they're up to now.
'Step by Step,' a staple on ABC's old TGIF line-up, told the story of a divorced dad with three kids who meets a widowed mother of three on vacation, and the two of them decide to get married on a whim. It was like 'The Brady Bunch' of the '90s.
