I grew up in South Haven, Michigan.  Gotta love the lakeshore! Still feel a yearning for the beach, pretty much daily.  Moved to Grand Rapids to go to Calvin College. Fell in love with GR and have been here since! (Go Beer City, USA!)   Big fan of crime TV, the '90s (scrunchies! Saved By the Bell!), my own rude and feisty cat, the beach (you may have thought I covered that already, but I really really love it, OK?), reading,  people watching, drinking on patios, playing the most inappropriate cards in Cards Against Humanity, and my dear, dear family.

Grand Rapids Remembers 9/11 with Boy Scout Salute, ‘Never Forget’ Exhibit at Ford Museum

As the nation remembers the tragic events of 9/11, so does Grand Rapids.

Today marks the 13-year anniversary of the attacks on the towers of the World Trade Center in New York, Sept. 11, 2001. A hijacked plane struck The Pentagon outside Washington DC and another crashed just outside Shanksville, Pa. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives, including firefighters, rescue workers, and police officers trying to aid the victims.

Today we pledge to never forget those people and to never forget the events of that day.

A day-long Boy Scouts salute, a special remembrance program, and "9/11 Never Forget" mobile exhibit tours are taking place in at the Ford Museum in Grand Rapids today as we remember 9/11/2001.

21-Year-Old Michigan Man Fakes Documents to Play High School Football

Taking a page right out of the "Never Been Kissed" playbook (Drew Barrymore? "Josie Grossie"? C'mon! You know you saw that movie.)  a 21-year-old Lansing man forged documents to pose as a high school student. James Nash transferred to Mount Pleasant High School during the first week of school, claiming to be 17-year-old Javier Jones. Now why would anyone ever want to go back to high school? Cafeteria food? Book reports? To scam on underage, naive high school girls? Well maybe, but mostly James Nash wanted to play high school football.

Petoskey Batman Busted Again– Girlfriend Petoskey Batgirl Shows Support on Facebook

The last we'd heard of Petoskey Batman (Harbor Springs man, Mark Wayne Williams), he was auctioning off his Batman suit to cover the legal fees he acquired after his arrest for scaling a building in downtown Petoskey. Apparently the Ebay route isn't working out for him. That, or the lure or crime fighting is just too strong,  because Petoskey Batman has been busted again. State troopers arrested the 33-year-old Saturday night after he refused to leave a crime scene.  He was wearing the Batman suit, of course.

Having just visited an ATM today, this alert from the Grand Rapids Police Department caught my eye. Thieves are at work in Grand Rapids, rigging up ATMs to steal your information and then hack into your bank account. It's called ATM skimming. Crooks set up a replica key pad, replica card scanner and a camera on or near the ATM to collect info from each transaction. Creepy, right?
