Janna

I grew up in South Haven, Michigan.  Gotta love the lakeshore. Still feel a yearning for the beach, pretty much daily.  Graduated from Calvin College in '06. Started at Townsquare Media as intern several years ago and have loved serving in Production, Promotions, and currently, on-air.  Big fan of crime TV, my own rude and feisty cat, the beach (you may have thought I covered that already, but I really really love it, OK?), reading,  people watching , and my dear dear family.

Homeland Security Pays for Sno-Cone Machines– West Michigan on the “Colbert Report” (Video)

No need to freak out West Michigan, those Sno-Cone Machines we've been needing so badly are finally here, courtesy of Homeland Security." Huh?", you ask.

Yep, a grant from Homeland Security  paid for Arctic Blast Sno-Cone makers to be distributed to 13 counties in West Michigan-- including Kent, Ionia, Muskegon, Ottawa and Newaygo-- for "medical use". Sound weird? It did to Stephen Colbert too.

‘Geezer Bandit’ Strikes Again!

California's infamous "geezer bandit" may be caught red handed... literally. The suspect, believed to be in his 70s, and wanted in connection with more than a dozen robberies, had a red dye pack explode during his most recent hold up on Friday. The Geez dropped the money in the parking lot and took off.  The elderly thief likely got the dye on this hands and clothing, and also may have also left a key piece of evidence. Watch the video after the jump.

Top 10 Unanswerable Questions (Video)

I admit, I rely on the internet a lot to make it through the day. And I've typed some pretty interesting things into search engines: "How can I make my cat be nicer?"  "How old is Snooki?"  Hey, the internet knows everything right? Well, apparently not. The search engine Ask.com has published a list of the top 10 unanswerable search queries. Watch the video after the jump!

No Shave November?

I don't know where I've been, but until recently I'd never heard of "No Shave November". For anyone in the dark like me, apparently it's a tradition in which men do not shave their faces for the entire month of November. Why? From the research I've done, um well,  just because they feel like it. Though sometimes, the beard growin' can be tied in with aiding a charity.

Paranormal Activity in Grand Rapids? (Video)

I've always been pretty quick to dismiss the idea of paranormal activity. Things that go bump in the night? Well, those aren't my sorts of things. There has to be a practical explanation-- an open window, a noisy neighbor, a dripping faucet... but certainly not ghosts. There are those who do believe in an active spirit world, however, and some are right here in Grand Rapids. I was surprised to find out about all the "haunted" places in GR. WZZM 13 did some digging -- check out the video after the jump.

Ozzy Writes a Self-Help Book

I'm not sure how I missed out on the news that Ozzy Obsourne writes an advice column. Maybe it's because he seems least likely to have good advice... but then again, the man has lived through a lot. The column "Dr. Ozzy" first appeared in the London Sunday Times several years ago, then expanded to the pages of Rolling Stone, and now, a book.  "Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy: Advice From Rock's Ultimate Survivor" hit stores October 10th.
