I know we take our beer seriously here in Grand Rapids, but this is ridiculous! The guys at Craft Beer and Brewing magazine have come up with the proper beer to drink when scarfing down a sleeve of Girl Scout Cookies!

Bon Appetit!

If you go to a fancy restaurant, you might be visited by a sommelier (pronounced: WINE SNOB), who will tell you exactly what very, very, very expensive wine will taste best with the food you order.

Well, if you’ve been hijacked by a Girl Scout and strong-armed into buying some of her cookies, it would be good to know what beer to chug as you regret your purchase. You know, like having a sommelier for beer and cookies.

For example, if you’re reaching for Samoas, make sure you have some Firestone Walker Sucaba nearby.

Thin Mints supposedly pair well with Alesmith Speedway Stout or Perennial 17 Mint Chocolate Stout. (Now that seems a bit too much MINT!!!)

And for all you Do-si-dos fans, Alaskan Brewing’s Oatmeal Stout is the way to go.

The truth be told, cookies and beer are a very time honored tradition. In that beer loving country of Germany, at Oktoberfest (the granddaddy of all beer fests), they sell special gingerbread cookies to help wash down with your beer.

A box of Girl Scout cookies and a six pack of beer. Go ahead. Enjoy it all. It’s not like it’ll make you fat or anything.
