Billy Joel loves to mention locations in his songs.

So, naturally someone would spend the time to put together a video of every place ever mentioned in a Billy Joel song, all in a little more than three minutes.

Even Billy would be impressed, even after turning 65 years old.

Also, Billy opens up about his life in a star studded Town Hall meeting in New York.

I'll bet you you had no idea how many places Billy name-dropped in his songs. It's quite extensive, and includes the Parkway Diner.

While we're on the Billy Joel trail, Billy is about to turn 65, so to celebrate, he held a Town Hall meeting at New York's Cutting Room, which featured performances by Pink, Melissa Etheridge, Boyz II Men, Idina Menzel and Tony Bennett. (See highlights in the video below.)

He opened the floor up to questions, and answered them all, including some leveled at him by one of the world's best interviewers, Howard Stern, who emceed the event and broadcast it over his SiriusXM satellite channel, Howard 100.

Some things we learned about Billy at the Town Hall:

  • He admitted for the first time that he tried heroin once, when he was on tour in Amsterdam. the result was a strange song on the album The Nylon Curtain called "Scandinavian Skies". “It got me so high, I didn’t know how to deal with it,” he said. “It scared me.
  • He hasn't written any new pop songs lately because he has no desire to. “You have to want to write new songs. Elton John asked, ‘When are you going to make another album?’ I say to him, ‘Why don’t you make less albums?' ”
  • He went to Woodstock! Billy was at the three day iconic music festival and his biggest memory was that he he hated Country Joe and the Fish, and said the first time he heard “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die-Rag,” he thought it sucked.
  • The song he is sick of performing is "Captain Jack". “By the time I get to the swimming pool, I’m rushing to have it over.”
