Black Heron Restaurant and Bar on Bridge Street in Grand Rapids has shut its doors for good.

MLive reports that the restaurant's closing came a little over a week after a car crashed through Black Heron's window on June 3.

A note has been posted to the restaurant's door:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Black Heron will be CLOSED until further notice. Thank you for your loyal patronage!"

Whether the closure is related to the accident has not been announced at this time.

According to MLive, owner Seth Porter did post in a thread about the restaurant's closure to the DrinkGR Facebook Group. A member of the group had posted,

Black Heron: saw they had a car crash into it a week and a half ago and now there's a sign on the door saying they are closed indefinitely. Damage is still boarded up and not fixed.

Was the accident a death knell? They seemed pretty empty compared to all the new places along Bridge Street the last few months."

When asked to confirm the closure, Porter replied:

"Black Heron, unfortunately, has closed its doors forever."

As of the writing of this post, the last post to Black Heron's Facebook page was on May 28.
