Bob Seger says with his new album, "Ride Out," he's "talking to the whole world."

The 69-year-old rocker tackles a number of political issues on the disc, including climate change and gun violence.

He tells The Detroit Free Press he felt a sense of urgency to "speak up before it's too late" because at his age, "you're very, very aware of your mortality."

Seger also believes he could lose some fans over one track. Bob says "people are going to be mad" when they hear "It's Your World," and he wouldn't be surprised if "a lot of people" don't come to his shows "because of it." But the singer-songwriter explains that he had to take the risk, because it was something he felt he had to say.

"Ride Out" arrives in stores today. It's his first studio effort in eight years, following 2006's "Face The Promise." Bob will hit the road in support of the disc next month. He'll join his Silver Bullet Band to launch the "Ride Out Tour" in Saginaw on Nov. 19 and Dec. 9 at Van Andel Arnea.

Before that, however, he's set to play a pair of songs on tonight's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on ABC and another deuce on Thursday's "Ellen DeGeneres Show."

And here he is performing it live.
