Allegan County Sheriff’s investigators hope to receive more information about a body
found in a wooded area Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE: Via WWMT, Portage Police confirm that the recovered remains are those of missing Schoolcraft teacher Theresa Lockhart.

Original Story:

According to the Kalamazoo Gazette, deputies responded to an area in the Allegan State Game Area after a tip was received around 2pm. Authorities say that the body had been buried but with the large amount of rain in the last few weeks, the body was partially uncovered.

The decomposed body, which has been identified as female, was taken to Western Michigan University's Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo for an autopsy.

So far, there is no word on if it is the body of Theresa Lockhart, who was reported missing in May. Her husband and person of interest in the case, Christopher Lockhart, was found dead at the family home in Portage Tuesday from an apparent suicide.
