Netflix to Stream ‘Breaking Bad’ Spinoff ‘Better Call Saul’ After 2014 AMC Finale
But it seems we may return to the world of “Breaking Bad” even sooner than anticipated.
Netflix has closed a deal with AMC to stream “Better Call Saul,” making the drama available sooner than we’d expected in 2014.
Via Deadline: Netflix’s efforts to secure “Better Call Saul” rights entirely for itself have not gone in vain, as the new deal will see the “Breaking Bad” spinoff available in its entirety to stream through the U.S. and Canada after the first-season finale on AMC in 2014.
Netflix has been credited previously with expanding the fanbase of “Breaking Bad” before the final season began in 2012 and 2013.
“’Breaking Bad’ is widely recognized as one of the great TV experiences in this new golden age of television,” said Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “It has also proven very popular with Netflix subscribers around the world.
“This spinoff promises to continue its tradition of powerful storytelling.”
To date, we’ve heard relatively little of “Better Call Saul” beyond its pilot greenlight, save for actor Bob Odenkirk‘s suggestion that the drama could feature present-day Saul without taking place entirely in flashback and that the lawyer would likely be spending time in a l courtroom.
