Candy Land was one of the first board games I ever remember playing. King Kandy, the Imperial Head Bonbon and Grand Jujube of Candy Land was lost! I'd cross the Ice Cream Sea, hike Gum Drop Mountain and avoid the likes of the evil Lord Licorice to find him! And now, one of my favorite childhood games is coming to the big screen.

Deadline.com reports that Adam Sandler will star, and his company Happy Madison will produce a live action movie based on the bestselling Hasbro board game.

The idea for a "Candy Land" has been tossed around for a while, but Sandler's involvement with the  is new.

Last year one of the films writers told Entertainment Weekly:

"We envision it as 'Lord of the Rings,' but set in a world of candy."

Entertainment Weekly also reports that more board games like Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit could be getting the big screen treatment soon.

What do you think of the board game to film trend? Any games you  want to see made into movies?
