Looking for some good laughs? Look no further than "Something Funny Happened on the Way to the Forum" at the Grand Rapids Civic Theater!
This is good ol Fashioned Comedy all done by our local performers and the beautiful and cool Civic theater downtown GR. It's a Farce comedy, which means it's pretty silly and slapstick, right up my alley!
If no one steps up, the 40th annual Cutlerville Days fireworks show scheduled for Saturday night will be cancelled. The need for sponsors to raise the 13-ish thousand dollars to put on a good fireworks show have fallen through. This will be the first time in the 40 year history of the festival with no fireworks.
All I can think is Homer Simpson is rolling over in his beer drenched grave. Can't you hear a "Mmmmmm...Donnnuuttss...aaarrggghhh" Coming from his mouth? I'm drooling just thinking about it. Friday is "National Donut Day" and donut shops around the area are celebrating! Yum!
And WFGR will be downtown and broadcasting on Saturday! Festival of the Arts (or Festival, as the locals call it--blend in if you are from out of town or new to the area--you can thank me later) starts on Friday with food and local art and food and music and some food and kids and did I mention the food? Here's all you need to know to be ready for the start of the Summer Festival season in West Michigan!
The Fox Sports Detroit girls will be making a special appearance at Rosa Parks Circle Friday afternoon with Whitecaps tickets and your chance to get pictures! The scenery might be pretty good! Win Whitecaps tix for knowing trivia answers, and meet the sexy ladies from FSN Detroit!
Today is both Robert Moog's birthday AND free Slurpee day at 7-11! If you didn't know, Robert Moog invented the electric organ that bares his name. If you go to Google, the "Google" logo has been replaced with a working electric organ that you can play AND record on...it's pretty cool!
Go help out a good cause, have some fun, and get your nose licked this weekend! Saturday is the 6th annual "Spring Fling" for the Allies for Greyhounds of West Michigan! The non profit group that helps find homes for greyhounds is having it's annual fundraiser and picnic off of Three Mile Road from 11 to 5 Satuday!
The spelling-challenged team from 98.7 won and lost at the 19th annual Spellebration at the Thousand Oaks Country Club Wednesday night. The awards honoring spelling tutors and supporters for the Literacy Center of West Michigan was highlighted by the annual celebrity spelling bee. Matt and myself started out slowly (one of few misspelled words by the champs from WZZM) and got...slower. We finished...
A Grand Opening, baseball, a holiday for a country that no one in that country celebrates, concerts, A Major Festival, food and thousands gathering in Van Andel to yell about their money: just another fun weekend in West Michigan! Here is your key to what's goin' on all across the area!
Double D is hitting the big time! Duran Duran has been announced as the headlining act for the opening ceremony! Simon and the boys have been headlining Awesome 80's weekends here at WFGR and now the rest of the world will get to see them. The opening ceremony will have an estimated audience of 1 Billion people worldwide (Nervous Simon?)
