Doctors found she was a suitable donor match, so Rendon took time off work to give Alex the kidney he needed. But when she tried to return to her job several weeks later, she found she’d been fired.

Weekend Box Office: ‘The Help’ Retains the Top Spot
In a weekend that saw many East Coast theaters closed because of Hurricane Irene, ‘The Help’ remained atop the box office for the second week in a row.
The film, based on the best-selling book of the same name, has now earned a total of $96.6 million.

Singer-Songwriter Nick Ashford Dead at Age 70
Nickolas Ashford, who along with his wife Valerie Simpson made up the Motown songwriting team Ashford & Simpson, succumbed to throat cancer Monday at age 70.
The duo penned such classic hits as ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,’ ‘Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing’ and ‘I’m Every Woman,’ and had their music recorded by Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye, among others. Ashford & Simpson also had a long singing career, which was best known for their duet ‘Solid.’

“Browsing the Internet serves an important restorative function,” concludes the report from the National University of Singapore.

In its second week of release, strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews propelled ‘The Help’ past ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ to take the number one spot at the box office this weekend, while ‘Apes’ moved to the number two slot.
‘The Help’ earned $20.5 million, while ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ pulled in $16.3 million.
Mike Myers Signs On for ‘Austin Powers 4′
Aside from voiceover work in the ‘Shrek’ franchise, the last time Mike Myers headlined on the big screen was in 2008′s disastrous box-office and critical flop, ‘The Love Guru.’
Now, the ‘Saturday Night Live’ alum is going back to the tried and true. He’s signed on to reprise the randy, dental-hygienically-challenged British spy Austin Powers in a fourth installment of the movie series.
