ArtPrize 2014: What’s Going On September 30 [Video]

The ArtPrize jurors' shortlists were announced Monday night for the sixth annual ArtPrize.

That means 16 juried finalists are in. The public vote continues, meanwhile, with first-round voting running through 11:59 p.m. Saturday.

Today (Tuesday, Sept. 30) is the seventh day of the 19-day public art exhibition, which runs through Oct. 12 in Grand Rapids.

Nearly 170,000 votes had been cast as of 8 a.m. today in first-round public voting, according to ArtPrize's vote tabulations.

The public voting helps determine a $200,000 grand prize winner, with another $200,000 grand prize selected from the jurors' shortlists.

Cher Announces Grand Rapids Concert Postponement for D2K Tour Because of Illness

Cher is on the mend from her recent illness but her doctors have advised her recovery from a virus will take longer than previously expected.

Because of that, her Dressed to Kill Tour concert previously scheduled Oct. 20 at Van Andel Arena has been postponed, according to spokeswoman Lynne Ike.

The rescheduled Dressed to Kill (D2K) Tour dates, including a new date for the Grand Rapids concert, is expected to be announced next week.

Today (Monday, Sept. 29) is the sixth day of the 19-day public art exhibition, which runs through Oct. 12 in Grand Rapids.

More than 146,000 votes had been cast as of 8 a.m. today in first-round public voting, according to ArtPrize's vote tabulations. Round One voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Oct. 4.

The voting helps determine a $200,000 grand prize winner, with another $200,000 grand prize selected by a juried panel of art critics.

Tears for Fears Re-Issuing ‘Songs from the Big Chair’ in November

Tears for Fears today announced plans to re-issue its best-selling album, "Songs from the Big Chair," in November.

The album, which spawned classics “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” “Mother’s Talk,” “Shout” and “Head over Heels,” is being released Nov. 11 via Universal Music Enterprises in five formats, including a six-disc deluxe edition box set featuring previously unreleased material and a 5.1 surround sound mix. The album is also to be available on vinyl.

Tears for Fears’ 10 million-selling second album marked a transition in the band’s sound and catapulted them into international prominence.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1′ Soundtrack Hits Gold Status

Eight weeks after its release, Marvel Music and Hollywood Records' Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1" soundtrack has been certified gold, selling more than 500,000 copies.

The album is the second chart-topping soundtrack of this year and was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in its second and third weeks of release in August.

Meanwhile, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie has earned more than $630 million worldwide and recently passed the $300 million mark at both the domestic and international box offices.
