Retrovision

You know what the WFGR Retrovision is all about...we find cool pictures or videos that look back in time at stuff. Sometimes it's a commercial or a clip from an old TV show. Today it's a picture. A very odd picture.

It was 24 years ago today the uprising in Tiananmen Square happened. Chinese riots and the subsequent changes inside the Peoples' Republic. Watch this WFGR Retrovision of the most indelible image of the standoff.

Remember way back when...Michigan's Adventure was called Deer Park Fun Land Well, about 1980 they made the turn away from a couple attractions and 100 deer.  Today, Michigan's Adventure bring people in from all over the Midwest for thrills, chills and of course the great water park...

Remember when TV ads used to feature obscure music tracks, instead of high profile polished commercial acts? The good folks at Volkswagon help us with this installment of Retrovision. My friend Jamie asked me about this song, and as I revisited it I thought it would fit here!

Now THIS is what Retrovision is all about! When we came up with the name to describe old videos and memories we wanted to highlight, this was what we were thinking of! Thanks to YouTube and the Internet, now we can see into the past!

A couple of days ago on Regis and Kelly Lee And Gelman and Michael Strahan, the hosts-all 5 of them--revealed a list of the worst songs of the 80's, written by Robert of the Radish, music critic for Yahoo! The song he deemed the "Worst Song of the 80's"? The Pina Colada Song by Rupert Holmes. Yeah, I can kinda see it. But this information spawned another list.

Anyone remember Nipsey? I do, mostly from game shows from the 60's-90's!  This is a guy that managed to stay on TV for almost 4 decades, for really, just being a polished and funny comedian.  Plus of course his trademark poems and "Words of Wisdom"...

There's an awesome new six part series that fits WFGR. It's called "The 80's-The Decade that Made Us". It's all about how the 80's launched things we know, love and take for granted about current pop culture, technology and the way we live.

Okay, Raise your hand if you remember Burger Chef?   Yep, me too. Sadly, they aren't around any longer, and they were all mostly sold what we now call Hardees.   Remember the good ol days and these commercials?  Let's head on down to the Burger Chef for a burger and a shake...

Here's another WFGR Retrovision. Who remembers Slim Goodbody? I do! He was this freaky looking guy who wore flash colored body suits with organs and bones all drawn on them to represent your body.

Of all the great shows, bloopers and clips we've seen from this show, this one might be the best.  This show ran for 11 years, and really nothing else ever came as close as to this combo of actors, writers and classic TV.  Check out this classic clip - it's the ultimate  in zing and bloopers...

My God! Can you believe TV ever was like this. Remember this show at all? It ran for a few years in the early 1970's.  Karen Valentine was pretty, but I found the rest of this show just very odd. I think it was supposed to be "funny" yet the mood is anything but funny in a lot of it...
