Grand Rapids Griffins Host Great Skate Winterfest This Weekend at Rosa Parks Circle

The Grand Rapids Griffins will be taking to the ice in Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids and skating for 24 straight hours this weekend to raise money for underprivileged children in the area.

The 13th annual Great Skate Winterfest begins at noon Saturday and runs until 10 p.m. Sunday.

Coast Guard Saves Dog From Icy Lake Michigan Waters in Frankfort [Video]

A lucky Labrador is safe at home with her family after an harrowing experience in an icy Michigan channel.

On Tuesday morning, the dog, Betsie Bay, fell into the Frankfort channel waters between Betsie Lake and Lake Michigan, in Frankfort.

Staffers at the U.S. Coast Guard station in Frankfort spotted the dog and suited up to rescue the pup from the frigid waters.

We Do Care is an non-profit organization dedicated to helping children with cancer in the Grand Rapids area.

It was founded by Bob Olson, a Comstock Park man who battled his cancer himself.

He was moved by the brave children he saw going through chemotherapy with him, and vowed to ease their pain one day. We Do Care is the result of that effort.
