May 22, 2012 This is certainly an odd story, especially for here in good old Grand Rapids. This guy got busted for too much pot in his car and the police uncovered a box full of Molotov Cocktails. This leads me to several questions:
May 18, 2012 So the reports are now coming in that this Black Bear that has been roaming throughout west Michigan is now on it's way back up north! So Comstock Park, you can breathe just a little bit easier! I'm not quite sure how they know where it's going, but they say it's now going north of 14 Mile Road.
A mother's love know no bounds... or species, it appears. 8-year-old Bailee Shultz was playing in his grandparents' backyard in Bangor, Michigan when he heard something crying. An investigation turned up a tiny squirrel, less than a week old, who had fallen from it's nest. They worried the little guy wouldn't make it. Bailee's mom, Stephanie, decided to try something. Her cat, Oreo, had just given birth to 5 kittens. What if they put the baby squirrel in with the litter?
May 11, 2012 With Michigan Severe Weather Awareness Week come and gone (It was in April, when we were back to reality after the warm March) The date of May 13, 1980 will always stick with me. It's one of the worst weather days in West Michigan History. The "Kalamazoo Tornado" hit 32 years ago this weekend. I was in elementary school and my class was a roller skating rink in Portage.
May 11, 2012 This is actually a VERY cool story. I never understood why we didn't do more of this seeing as we are the great lakes state, but now it looks like we are finally going to. Muskegon is set to get a huge wind farm investment over the next couple of years. With gas and energy prices soaring, I say go for it!
May 3, 2012 Congrats to my hometown of Kalamazoo! The "Mall City" was just named one the the "10 Best Cities for Cheapskates" according to Kiplingers' magazine! Good job Kalamazoo! Way to be cheap! No, I'm kidding! The city has a fair amount of free or low cost activities plus a lower cost of living, all within a 3 hour drive of Chicago and Detroit. Perfect!

May 1, 2012 It was two years ago that Michigan's Smoking Ban went into effect. Smoking in bars and restaurants have become a thing of the past. The only place you can still smoke is in a casino. As a non smoker, I like being able to go into a B-Dubs or Applebees and not smell the smoke wafting through the place. Others hate having to step outside on a cold January night to smoke while tossing back a few cold ones. It's still a hot topic online and in bars all over the state.
April 26, 2012 I told you Tuesday that Rosie's Diner in Rockford was hitting the auction block. As of 4 o'clock, the bidding was up to $125,500.00. That's pretty good! But it might not be the last we see of diners in the greater Grand Rapids area.
April 25, 2012 So these two eight year old girls in Hastings decide to go on a shoplifting spree. They ditched school and stole almost $250 worth of stuff. Only reason they were caught? They tried get something to eat at a local auto repair store, and the owner caught them. Ok back up....8 year olds? I have an 8 year old. As far as I know she hasn't been on any shoplifting spree's.
April 25, 2012 Well here's some good news for Michigan, and our cities. Including Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, Detroit and Lansing! Looks like in the next few years things are really going to pickup in our great state. Hopefully many who left will be able to come back who might have lots jobs or gotten downsized.
April 24, 2012 My friend Cory who writes and shoots pics for the Press/MLive gets all the fun assignments. The Zombie Dash this weekend is one of them! For those not in the know, the Zombie Dash is a race wrapped up in a horror movie wrapped up in fun. According to the website, the premise is simple: "Run a scenic five kilometer trail. Locate and grab supplies along the way. Dodge zombies looking for dinner (or a good scare). Race against darkness and a Zombie apocalypse." Neat!
