Do you sometimes feel like you work with a bunch of children? Well, apparently you are not alone. According to a new CareerBuilder survey, 77 percent of employees say they’ve witnessed co-workers exhibit some sort of childish behavior at the office.

The most prevalent adolescent behavior invading the workplace is apparently whining, with 55 percent of workers witnessing it from colleagues.

Other behaviors ranking high on the list include:

  • Pouting when you don’t get your way (46%)
  • Playing a prank on a co-worker (36%)
  • Making a face behind someone’s back (35%)
  • Forming a clique (32%)
  • Starting a rumor (30%)
  • Storming out of the room (29%)
  • Throwing a tantrum (27%)
  • Refusing to share resources with others (23%)

And such behavior doesn’t only make for a bad working environment, it also can be hazardous to someone’s career aspirations. In an earlier CareerBuilder study, employers said such behavior can decrease a worker’s chances of getting promoted. Behavior with the biggest negative impact includes negativity or a pessimistic attitude, vulgar language, gossiping and sloppiness.
