Michigan State University alumni and non-alumni alike are invited out to watch the big football game between national powers Oregon and Michigan State on Saturday night at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids.

A trend was born this summer when Ah-Nab-Awen Park hosted a showing of the World Cup soccer game between the U.S. and Belgium. People discovered they enjoy watching games together on the park's big screen, which is usually reserved for summer movies.

Now, the Michigan State University Alumni Club of West Michigan is getting in on the fun. This Saturday, the Spartan fan group is inviting Sparty fans of all ages out to the park to watch the big interleague game between the 3rd ranked Ducks of Oregon and the 7th ranked Spartans.

The game kicks off at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore., at 6:30 p.m. EDT, but get out to the park early for some tailgating fun.

The screen will be set up on the grassy space near the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and, like the Summer Movies in the Park, the public space has suspended their beer and wine ban for the game.

According to the Alumni web site:

"Families will be able enjoy free temporary Spartan tattoos, mini-footballs, and glow-sticks. Spartan-owned vendors such as Ritz Koney, Dorothy + Tony’s Popcorn, and GB Russo will also be on-hand to sell their delicious creations. In addition, guests that are 21+ of age can BYOB (beer & wine only) while they enjoy the view from the big screen."

The Alumni Club is expecting about 1,500 to 2,000 fans, so bring your lawn chair and enjoy the stadium-like environment.
