A 911 dispatcher with apparently delicate sensibilities got so annoyed by a desperate caller’s use of the F-word, he hung up on them, telling the distraught person to 'deal with it yourself'.

NBC News reports that Matthew Sanchez, the 911 dispatcher with the Albuquerque Fire Department, has since been reassigned after failing to help the woman who was attending to a friend.

In a released audio recording, the woman says “I’m keeping him alive.” Sanchez asks “Is he not breathing?” The caller says “Barely. Stay with me, okay. Good job Jaydon.” Sanchez repeats: Is he breathing?” That causes the caller to curse. She says, “He’s barely breathing. How many times to I have to F-ing tell you?” Then Sanchez snaps, saying, “OK, you know what ma’am? You can deal with it yourself. I’m not going to deal with this, ok.” The woman says “No, he’s going to die.” But the call ends there.

KRQE reports that fire department units had already been dispatched before Sanchez’s abrupt sign-off, but the victim, 17-year-old Jaydon Chavez-Silver was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Albuquerque Fire Department Chief said Sanchez was “immediately removed” from the dispatch center. He was placed on “administrative assignment and an internal investigation was launched.
