Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed a 28-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Golden Tate on the first possession of overtime to give the Detroit Lions a 22-16 win over the Vikings in Minnesota.

Tate's touchdown wasn't the biggest story of the game, though. With just 23 seconds left and zero timeouts, Stafford was able to get the Lions into field goal position for kicker Matt Prater, who nailed a 58-yarder to send the game into overtime.

That was actually the third of Prater's three field goals on the day for the Lions. In the first quarter, he connected on a 47-yarder. He also hit a 53-yarder early in the fourth quarter.

Stafford finished the game with 219 yards passing, two touchdowns, and one interception. Along with the game-winner to Tate in overtime, Stafford also hit wide receiver Anquan Boldin with a touchdown pass right before the half.

The story for the Vikings wasn't what they did, but what their kicker Blair Walsh couldn't do. In the third quarter, Walsh missed an extra point and had a field goal blocked, both of which would have put the Lions' comeback attempt in the fourth quarter further out of reach.

The Lions, who now hold a record of 5-4, will take advantage of the bye next week before welcoming the Jacksonville Jaguars to Ford Field on November 20th.
