Dolly Parton has long had an affinity for Classic songs, having covered "Stairway To Heaven" and "Time For Me To Fly" among others.

This time she tipped her hat to Bon Jovi, covering a song of theirs at a recent concert in Australia.

Parton is including the cover on her upcoming album, ‘Blue Smoke,’ which is set for a May 2014 release. She says that the song means something different to her.

“When I first heard that song, years ago I thought, ‘Wow, that sounds so much like a gospel tune — with asking God to lay his hands on you,’” Parton explains.

Dolly explains that her religious upbringing in Tennessee meant putting a Gospel twist to the song' “I grew up in a Pentecostal church, where we believed in healing and laying your hands, and praying for people who were sick and all that.”

While Parton says she thinks her take on the song will "shock people", I didn't hear that. What I heard was a sincere appreciation for the original, while definitely putting her stamp on it.

“I called Jon Bon Jovi, and asked if he would be opposed for me turning it into a gospel tune — and I called Richie Sambora, who is a co-writer on it. We all three got together, and everybody threw in their thoughts and their ideas.

Blue Smoke‘ is set to drop on May 13.
