Sir Elton John began the taping of his SiriusXM Town Hall show, last night, by playing a beautiful version of “Space Oddity” while the musicians were setting up. The crowd of 50 fans and media sat silently taking it in.

During the night, the music icon shared thoughts about David Bowie and how if it weren’t for his peer’s innovative “Space Oddity” John would have never collaborated with the geniuses that helped lift his own career off.

"If it wasn't for David Bowie, I would never have found my original producer Gus Dudgeon and Paul Buckmaster, who arranged the first three albums for me," he said. "Because when I heard 'Space Oddity,' I thought it was probably the most incredible record I'd ever heard.”

John continued, “we made the 'Elton John' album together and many more albums, so I've got David to thank for that."

You can hear the full Town Hall on The Spectrum, channel 28, on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Meanwhile, Sir Elton is going to be helping James Corden get to work next month. Seems Elton has signed on to take part in “The Late Late Show’s” popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment.

But Elton wont be appearing on your standard episode of “The Late Late Show.” No, he'll turn up during the show’s special post-Super Bowl episode on February 7th.

Of course the Rocket Man isn't the first superstar to take part in “Carpool Karaoke.” Stevie Wonder, Justin Bieber, One Direction and Mariah Carey have already done it, with Adele set to appear tonight.
