Fire breaks out at Grand Rapids' Red Ball Jet Cafe

UPDATE (11:00 a.m.) The Gilmore Collection (owners of Red Ball Jet Cafe) posted to Facebook to assure their customers that Red Jet is fine and will soon reopen following a Thursday morning fire.

The fire broke out at around 8:00 a.m. at the Red Ball Jet Cafe on Plainfield Avenue. The restaurant was not open for business at the time.

Everybody @ Red Jet Cafe is okay and they will be open again soon. Unfortunately, Red Jet will not be open for lunch today due to the unfortunate events. We do apologize in advance!

Firefighters on the scene were forced to evacuate from the building due to the concern of a gas leak. Plainfield Avenue has been blocked in that area as crews work to put out the fire.
