Grand Rapids' not so favorite son, Floyd Mayweather, may be retired, but that doesn’t mean the Ottawa Hills alum is out of the spotlight.

During an event in Las Vegas over the weekend, Mayweather admitted a fight with UFC star Conor McGregor is “possible” – but it would, of course, have to come at a price.

Floyd said he would hop back in the ring and fight McGregor for $100-million. Big deal. Chump change.

McGregor responded to the suggestion by Mayweather by posting a mocked up staredown between the two fighters on social media.

To be clear here, the fight Mayweather thinks is “possible” is a boxing match – not a fight in the octagon, which McGregor's fighting venue of choice.

So while the idea of a potential battle between the two guys on the planet who make the most money in their respective sports might interest a lot of fight fans, let’s pump the brakes here.

Both McGregor and Mayweather know that McGregor would win a bar fight between these two. And, they both know Mayweather would win the boxing match.

There’s no way Conor McGregor would hop in a boxing ring with Floyd Mayweather, regardless of the paycheck. He already has to do some climbing to get back to the top of the MMA mountain – and he knows Floyd Mayweather never takes a fight he knows he can’t win.

But, it’s fun to think about, isn’t it?

No surprise, but Dana White is calling BS on this one. He’s in the business of putting fights together. Not being a circus ringleader.

Then again… Is there a price that could make this fight work? There’s always a price. So… maybe?
