Ford Motor Company has issued a recall on over 36,000 of their newer cars due to airbag issues.

Ford was notified by Takata, the company that makes the airbags, that they may not inflate properly. Ford said in their news release:

...the airbag may not completely fill, or the airbag cushion may detach from the airbag module due to misalignment of components...

The recall affects the following vehicles:

  • 2016-17 Ford Edge
  • 2016-17 Lincoln MKX
  • 2017 Continental

Most of the affected cars are in the U.S. but just over 4,000 are in Canada.

No injuries or accidents have been reported due to this issue.

If your car is one of the ones on the recall list you can take it to your local dealership and they will replace the airbag for you at no charge.
