To a man, the men who played under former University of North Carolina coach Dean Smith have all mentioned what a huge role model he was in their life.

From taking the lead on integration in the South, to leading young men to success far beyond the basketball court, the late coach was a tremendous influence on his players.

And now, after he's gone, he comes back into their lives with a little treat for all of them. All 180 of them.

There are 180 former players of the recently deceased head coach still alive, and every one of them received a letter recently from his estate. Each letter contained a check for $200 with these words, "enjoy a dinner out, compliments of Coach Smith".

Even in the waning years of his life, before Alzheimer's ravaged his brain, the Coach made sure all of his players would be taken care of after his passing. What a classy move.
