Being famous doesn't keep you from the struggles with mental illness - and such is the case for The EaglesRandy Meisner. Recent events have pushed Meisner to the edge, and now his friends and family are trying to intervene.

In case you forgot, back in January, Meisner allegedly threatened to gun people down in a hospital he was in with an AK-47. He also made a separate threat to attempt suicide with prescription medication. And while he had no weapon in his possession, the hospital staff took it seriously.

Fast forward to April, and Meisner's longtime friend, James Newton, filed papers to have Meisner put under supervision for both his personal and financial matters.

Now, Judge David Cunningham has agreed. The bassist was appointed a temporary conservator to oversee the 24-hour management. Meisner's wife, Lana Rae Meisner, stormed out of the courthouse when the judge announced her hubby would have professional conservator Frumeh Labow put in charge. "If I'm going to err…it's going to be on the side of protecting Mr. Meisner," the judge said. "If it's overkill, it's overkill."

Meisner has been hospitalized several times for issues including alcoholism and was prescribed medication to treat a "mood disorder." His lawyer, however, says concerns about his client's mental health are being "widely overblown." A court date has been set for September, but both sides have agreed to try to do a mediation before that.
