Nathan East is a rock, R&B and jazz bassist and vocalist who has appeared on more than 2,000 musical releases.

You might know the 58-year-old Philadelphia native's work with Toto and Daft Punk, among others.

His musical and technical acumen with a bass guitar is landing him a spot in the National Association of Music Merchants' Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Hall of Fame.

East is a founding member of contemporary jazz quartet Fourplay.

He has recorded, performed and co-written songs with Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Joe Satriani, George Harrison, Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Beyoncé, Barbra Streisand, Lionel Richie, Justin Timberlake, Bob Dylan, Whitney Houston, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Chaka Khan, Celine Dion, Al Jarreau, Aretha Franklin, Bob James, David Foster and Rod Stewart in addition to Toto and Daft Punk.

East is being inducted Jan. 24, 2015, during the 30th annual NAMM TEC Awards in Anaheim, Calif. Veteran audio engineer, mixer and producer Ed Cherney, a Grammy Award winner who has worked with Bonnie Raitt, The Rolling Stones, Sting and Eric Clapton, is also being honored.

"I am blessed every day to do what I love and make music for a living," he said.

In March, East released a self-titled solo album distributed by Yamaha Entertainment Group that debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and features the No. 1 jazz single and video “Daft Funk,” featuring Ray Parker Jr. He is affiliated with Yamaha Entert

East has been a mentor to many musicians for years through bass guitar clinics, master classes, instructional DVDs and his online school.

The NAMM TEC Awards Hall of Fame was created in 1988, and has among its inductees Jones, George Lucas, Arif Mardin, Ray Dolby, George Martin, Phil Ramone, T Bone Burnett, Les Paul, George Massenburg, Bob Moog, Bill Putnam, Phil Spector, Deane Jensen, Willi Studer, Geoff Emerick, Ed Greene, Rose Mann Cherney, Roy Halee, Bob Liftin, Sam Phillips, Bruce Swedien and Frank Zappa.
