The “Battle of the Bastards” may be behind us, but Ser Davos’ fighting days are far from over when Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres. Some new photos see actor Liam Cunningham undergoing some bareknuckle (bare finger stump?) training from UFC fighter Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh, just as The Mountain before him.

Via TMZ, the Irish actor was photographed taking a few lessons from Kavanagh in the octagon, just as Mountain actor Hafthor Julius Bjornsson had earlier this year. Kavanagh even shared video of the encounter, teasing “Off to teach Davos Seaworth unarmed combat in case he loses his sword. Seriously.”:

If he loses his sword he’s just as dangerous #SirDavos #gameofthrones

Game of Thrones Season 7 is due to go before cameras soon (Cunningham will first appear at Comic-Con 2016), thought it remains to be seen what Ser Davos will get up to next year, to take part in a bit of hand-to-hand brawling. Last we saw, Davos had confronted Melisandre over the murder of Shireen Baratheon, swearing to kill the red priestess if she returned from Jon Snow’s banishment.

So, who knows? Maybe Davos starts a Winterfell Fight Club to kill time while The Night King looks for means to circumvent The Wall, and Daenerys races toward the Mad Queen in Kings’ Landing.

In the meantime, stay tuned for the latest on Game of Thrones Season 7, and stay tuned for more from Comic-Con 2016.
