The Grand Rapids Football Club has come a long way from its highly successful inaugural year. After bumping up to the National Premier Soccer League, the Boys In Blue have earned a playoff spot and will host the Indy Eleven Friday night at Midtown's Houseman Field.

If you haven't taken in a game at Houseman Field yet, why not come out this Friday and cheer the GRFC on in the playoffs?

Here's a rundown of the history of GRFC and details about Friday's game from Redditor antifreze:

History

Last year GRFC was in a homemade league (Great Lakes Premier League), but this year we were admitted to the NPSL which is the 4th tier in the US Soccer Pyramid and has 85 teams all over the country. GRFC won our conference and is now hosting the NPSL Midwest Regional Finals. We play at Houseman Field. We have a supporter group called the Grand Army and even have our own supporter group beer made by Brewery Vivant as well as official an Grand Rapids FC beer - "Extra Time" made by New Holland.

Last game

Last Friday we beat Lansing United in our last match of the regular season 3-1. Here is the video recap.

Friday

Friday GRFC plays Indy Eleven (NPSL side) at Houseman Field. Kickoff is scheduled at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 in advance for friday or $15 for the weekend. This is the biggest game of our history. We have a chance to make it to the finals of the Midwest and then go on to play the Northeast Region. We need as many people out there, cheering our boys on! If you want to sit with the Grand Army, check out their chant sheet before the game:http://www.grandarmygr.com/chants

Saturday

If we beat Indy Eleven, we'll play the winner of AFC Cleveland vs AFC Ann Arbor on Saturday at 7:30pm.

Pre-game festivities for Friday

The Grand Army (and anyone else who wants to attend) will be at Bob's Bar (725 Michigan St) starting at 4pm for a pre-match party then they will do a March to the Match

Our Opponent - Indy Eleven NPSL side

They've been around since 2007 and are based in Westfield, IN. Only last year did they qualify for the playoffs but they did go to the semifinals. They are a tough team but they also have an NASL team (2nd division). They might have a few fans that show up but it doesn't look like their supporter groups are going to travel. We'll show them what a real crowd looks like! Show up! Be Loud!

DEFEND THE HOUSE! ONE CITY! ONE CLUB! COME ON YOU BOYS IN BLUE!!!!!!

Houseman Field is also a pokestop, and there should be a ton of lures out so don't feel like you have to skip just to catch that elusive Mew/Mewtwo/Moltres/Zapdos/Articuno/Ditto
