The prize possession of Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, the main character in "Guardians of the Galaxy" is a mix tape of '70s songs his late mother gave him before she died.

He guards the tape with his life, and still has his Sony Walkman to listen to it.

The songs on the tape will be very familiar to WFGR listeners, and so I give to you, the playlist for Peter's "Awesome Mix, Vol. 1"

  • 1

Hooked On A Feeling -- Blue Swede

  • 2

Go All The Way -- Raspberries

  • 3

Spirit In The Sky -- Norman Greenbaum

Although it's on Peter's mix tape, this song does not show up in the movie.

  • 4

    Moonage Daydream -- David Bowie

This deep album cut from "Ziggy Stardust" is the only mix tape cut that was not a top 40 single in the US.

  • 5

Fooled Around And Fell In Love -- Elvin Bishop

  • 6

    I'm Not In Love -- 10cc

This is the song that is playing as we are introduced to Peter as a young boy in Missouri.

  • 7

    I Want You Back -- Jackson 5

Stick around during the credits to see Groot's sprout's dance moves.

  • 8

Come And Get Your Love -- Redbone

Modern day Peter shows off HIS dance moves to this early in the movie. Who knew Andy from Parks and Rec could shake it like that?

  • 9

    Cherry Bomb -- The Runaways

This song highlights a pretty cool action sequence.

  • 10

Escape (The Pina Colada Song) -- Rupert Holmes

    \
How can you have a '70s mix tape labelled "awesome" without this song?

  • 11

Ooh Child -- The Five Stairsteps

I always knew this song would save the Galaxy one day. But I never knew this band had a female singer until now.

  • 12

Ain't No Mountain High Enough -- Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

Another song that has been in countless movies. Classic.
