Happy Restaurant Week From “The Grove”!
It’s the beginning of Restaurant Week in Grand Rapids and far be it from me to turn down an offer of dinner out to talk about your experience……”ya, i’m in”. I only asked one thing though and that was for our sales rep Kate pick a place for me…..she came back with The Grove.
The setting was intimate, almost like you knew you were in for something special among friends, cozy but still comfortable. Took a look over the menu and picked out a couple of great dishes….more on that in a moment….
Chef Jim Wise dropped by to say hi….that was a nice touch. You know I hear he worked his way up from being a pizza chef……still works the line with his guys too…nice!
We got our orders in, Julie was our waitress, but she was a little camera shy,
For me : shrimp and grits (delish), tomato and cucumber salad (didn’t know tomatoes came in so many colors…amazed) and fresh cut pasta (subtle yet bold….had I been home eating that I would have gone back for thirds)
For her : toasted ravioli ( I tried for a bite, Cindy beat me to it), a fresh fruit salad (de-lish) and “Otto’s Chicken” (she loved it)
All in all, a delightful experience….they clearly didn’t win “Restaurant of the Year” for nothing. I noticed too, what an amazing little rebirth going on over their way in what’s now referred to as “East Hills”. I just love the atmosphere in areas like that. It felt so much “bigger city” than I am used to.
Still, there was one thing best of all out of my experience at Grove – my date
Take your date to the Grove! Tell ‘em I sent ya!
