Hope College student Jodi Beckman was crowned the new Miss Greater Grand Rapids on Saturday, December 1, at the Kroc Center in Grand Rapids.

Beckman will represent the Greater Grand Rapids area in the 2013 Miss Michigan Pageant in Muskegon next June.

The Greater Grand Rapids Pageant is open to women ages 18 to 24 who live, work, or attend school in Kent, Ottawa, or Ionia counties.

Mlive.com has more on the competition:

Beckman hit the stage first in full costume as the flower girl in My Fair Lady. She sang the song "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" in an accent that was close enough to call it Cockney.

Other crowd favorites included Mollie Smith's sultry rendition of "After Midnight," Natalie Hollabaugh's Hawaiian hula dance complete with detailed hula costume, and Kaitlyn Thompson's contemporary dance to "I Run For Life" with the latter getting some of the loudest applause of the afternoon.

Congrats to Jodi Beckman and good luck in June!
