The invasive Oriental Bittersweet plant has been growing rapidly along the Grand River in Ottawa County, snuffing out local plants. One way to battle it is to bring in hungry goats who love eating Oriental Bittersweet. Now, what do we do about the lonely goatherds?

Ottawa County's idea to bring in goats to eat invasive plants like the Oriental Bittersweet is yielding big dividends in the Eastmanville Bayou along the Grand River. The goats, who really will eat just about anything, are shown the invasive plants, and then told to go at it like me at an All You Can Asian Buffet.

Maybe there'll be some goatherding jobs opening soon. Which is great, although I've heard it can get lonely.
