Is That Bridge You Are On Safe?
With all of the construction going on around the Grand Rapids area, (and Michigan for that matter) do you ever wonder how safe the roads and bridges we drive on are? I saw a story recently that told of the states with the most unsafe bridges.
Luckily Michigan was not one of them. Pennsylvania was. I was as surprised as you were. But after the story, there's a cool interactive map telling all the bridges in each state, as well as which ones were deficient and which ones wern't. It also tells the last time the bridge was inspected.
Michigan is 18th on the list. And looking over the Greater Grand Rapids area, theres only a handful a bridges that are possibly unsafe. It's interesting to note a bridge I go over 2 or 3 times a week is deficient. It's the bridge by GR South Christian High School. Who knew?
