Elton John wanted to meet with Russian president Vladimir Putin to talk to him about his country’s “ridiculous” attitude towards homosexuals? Well, if you believe Elton, he actually got a chance to bend Putin’s ear, which surprised the President.

Elton John said earlier this week he would like a few minutes with Russian President Vladimir Putin to talk to him about his country’s horrific policies regarding gay rights. In an interview with the BBC, Elton called Putin’s attitude towards gay rights “ridiculous” and “isolating and prejudiced," and blasted the presidents comments about gay people targeting children.

On Monday, Elton posted a picture of Putin on Instagram with the caption, "Thank-you to President Vladimir Putin for reaching out and speaking via telephone with me today. I look forward to meeting with you face-to-face to discuss LGBT equality in Russia.”

But here’s the thing, it seems Elton may have been pranked, because Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov insists the president never made that call. "Putin did not have a conversation with Elton John, and, what's more, we have not received any requests from him for a meeting," Peskov told the Associated Press. But, Peskov added, Putin would be open to a conversation.  “I don’t doubt that if there is such a request, the president will be ready to meet with Elton John among others to give answers to all the questions that he might ask. But we haven’t received such signals yet.”

Either this is a bad episode of 'Punk'd" or Putin doesn't want anyone to know he actually had a civilized dialogue with a member of the human race.
